Moto Guzzi

Solid and refined components
to travel anywhere

Moto Guzzi V85 TT was born to astonish. To go beyond. To become a tireless travel companion, on the road, but also offroad. The components used reflect this all-rounder attitude, raising functionality and riding efficiency. A clear example of this can be found in the high quality suspension, characterised by a long travel capable of absorbing the bumps in offroad riding.

The fork installed on the Moto Guzzi V85 TT is upside-down with a diameter of 41 mm and 170 mm travel, measurements that allow total control in offroad riding, but also precision and solidity when tackling a nice section of asphalt. And it doesn't matter whether you are riding alone or two-up with baggage, or whether your riding style is soft or sporty… there are numerous adjustment possibilities. In fact, the right stanchion of the fork has two practical concentric adjustments at the top near the upper steering yoke, very easy to access and operate. The central screw controls the hydraulic rebound damping, whereas the hexagon underneath allows spring preload adjustment.

The latter has variable gauge: this means that the distance of the coils is not constant over its entire length, a characteristic that allows for an ideal compromise between comfort and stability.

Safe braking even offroad

The Moto Guzzi V85 TT fork stanchions have guards on the lower part made of plastic material, designed to deflect dust and any debris that could strike the surface. The feet on which the wheel hub is fastened support two radial mounted brake callipers with four opposing pistons made by Brembo. They grip large 320 mm diameter discs and are managed by a modern anti-locking system controlled by the sophistic on board electronics with various riding mode settings. In the Offroad riding mode, the ABS does not operate on the rear wheel and is less intrusive on the front in order to guarantee maximum safety. In fact, on low grip surfaces, such as mud and gravel, for example, the rear wheel needs to lock up in order to reduce speed or to come to a complete stop. This is further confirmation of just how eclectic this maxi enduro is.

In order to guarantee maximum solidity and reliability even in the toughest riding conditions, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT wheel rims have 'enduro' characteristics: they have inner tubes which can be easily repaired in the event of punctures during 'adventure trips', and they are made using steel spokes for maximum resistance to stress stemming from the inevitable impact of offroad riding. This is a choice that also gives the V85 TT an aggressive look.

Long travel suspension to tackle any situation

The Moto Guzzi V85 TT rear shock absorber is inclined and offset on the right arm of the swingarm, the one that houses the final drive cardan shaft. It is placed in an extremely convenient position: in fact, adjustments are all close at hand. As with the fork, the shock absorber allows for 170 mm wheel travel and it can be customised in preload and rebound damping. The former thanks to a cam mechanism with 7 presets, the latter through a specific screw located on the bottom part of the monoshock. The shock absorber spring, like the ones hidden in the front suspension, is also variable gauge, a choice that guarantees progressive hardening in relation to the wheel travel, a characteristic that enhances track stand riding pleasure and efficiency in more spirited riding.

The type of suspension, its long travel and the chassis architecture sizes typical of a bike made for touring/adventure translate into a height off the ground of the engine – the 'ground gap'of an impressive 210 mm. This is significant data for understanding the Moto Guzzi V85 TT's attitude toward travel, especially trips over unpaved routes. In fact, a high gap off the ground allows both inexperienced and the most jaded riders to be at ease, making offroad riding easy and intuitive. Because carefree fun is the goal of almost any motorcycle rider. Even the most demanding.
